I rented a unit from here for a tear and a half. At first I signed a year contract and was pretty happy. It was adorable and I was at a fixed rate the entire year. Then they tried to jack up the price by $50 halfway through my contract and it took quiet a bit of fighting with them to keep my promised rate. Due to some extenuating circumstances I had to rent for an additional 6 months and they more than doubled the price of my unit without informing me (I was set up for auto pay). They do offer student discounts. But they are poor communicators.
I cannot get over the poor management of this facility. A little back ground- I was in Prescott to plan a funeral and settle the estate of my beloved mother. When I called to explain that I needed to vacate the unit, I was spoken to in a hostile manner telling me that I hadn't given the required 30 day notice. When the woman on the other end finally listened and understood the situation she told me, "fine, but you owe half a months rent." No problem, I sent out a payment, but the next day she calls back and says she was " looking at her workbook wrong, I was owed the half months rent. Still no big deal, having much bigger life events I was working on.Couple days later, she calls me back and berates me for not turning in a key. Again, I tell her - no problem, I've had many storage units, never had to return a key, but will make a special trip.Fast forward to nearly 1 month later. I've long left AZ and am still grieving for the loss of my mom. She calls and says she still hasn't written the check, but plans to soon. She then starts getting all agitated about the state I left the storage unit in. I told her - I took a photo and would be glad to send to you to show you that it was clean. She hangs up on me.She calls back, tells me that she doesn't have to give me a refund, and if she does she deducting the costs of cleaning the unit. Before I can say anything - hangs up on me again.I try to call her back - she picks up the phone and hangs it up w/o saying anything.I'm really at a complete loss of words. It is so sad that people run a business with such a lack of integrity and hostility. I should add, this is all over $55.. Minus her "cleaning fee" of $10, so really $45.. I hope this unhappy woman finds her calm place and some solitude in her life. It really must be a very empty place that continually draws that kind of hostility when someone is trying to plan for their mothers funeral, and close out all estate items. God bless.
